The Mendocino County Fair & Apple Snow is admittedly probably the most exciting part of the year for small town folks like us. What was once an excuse to round up in the Apple Orchard at our friends place behind the fairgrounds and party long after the rodeo ended on Saturday night, to only try and suffer through the hot dehydration of Sunday Morning Sheep Dog Trails, has turned into more of a family affair over the years. These days it pick-up baseball games, bike rides, and trying to get the kids to sleep through the night of car camping with all the excitment and bright lights of the fair just beyond the tree-line of our camp. Last year our 7 year old had to be dragged away from a 1am game of hacky-sack with the cowboys while the Del efhwiefh Band rang on through the night… so perhaps we still know how to go a little hard.

Fair is always a time to run into old neighbors and friends and catch up in an unhurried if not jubilant and often raucous way. Every corner of the county is represented at the intersection of cowboy, rancher, grape grower, dope grower, hippy, boomer, hipster, tourist.

This year we wanted to pay tribute to our favorite time of year, right after grape harvest has ended and cannabis harvest is about to commence, a brief little reprieve to kick back for a weekend at the Mendocino County Fair & Apple Show. Even if you can’t make it to our small town fair in person, you can put on this playlist and light up the night. And maybe we will see you there next year!
